In dem Film "Go Johnny Go" spielte Clanton eine Rolle und auch die Single "Go Jimmy Go"(ACE 575) wurde wieder ein groBer Hit, der 1960 bis auf Platz 5 in den Charts kam. Die dann folgenden Aufnahmen waren keine Hits mehr und es dauerte bis 1962, ehe dann noch einmal ein Song von Clanton in die Charts kam: "Venus In Blue Jeans", Platz 7.
Eventually, the record reached number four on the Billboard Pop chart and topped the R&B charts in 1958, and suddenly Clanton was one of Ace's hottest properties. Appearances on American Bandstand followed, along with his first bookings outside of the South.
