Since 1991, Steagall has hosted the annual Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering in the Stockyards National Historic District of Fort Worth. The event features a ranch rodeo, chuckwagon cookoff, children's poetry contest, Western swing dances, cowboy music and poetry, a trappings show, and horsemanship clinics.
Wagon Tracks. Red Steagall. The first cowboy Poet Laureate of Texas, Red Steagall has been carrying on the cowboy music tradition for many years. A thematic collection of twelve tracks, Wagon Tracks has Steagall sing the tales of an immigrant’s journey across the young frontier.
Although Red Steagall is best known for his wonderful Texas Swing dance music and such songs as "Here We Go Again", "Party Dolls and Wine", "Freckles Brown", and "Lone Star Beer and Bob Wills Music", he also is beloved by Texas cowboys for the quiet times they have spent with him around chuck wagon campfires.
