Jeff Friedl is a studio and touring drummer as well as a co-founder of The Beta Machine, currently based in Los Angeles, California. Friedl has recorded, performed, and toured with musical acts such as Ashes Divide, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer, Devo, Filter and Carina Round.

Friedl grew up in Tucson, Arizona where he began playing and studying drums at age 11. After playing with many successful bands throughout Arizona, Friedl moved to Los Angeles, California in 2004 to begin doing session work along with taking local live gigs and tours.

    Ashes Divide

In 2007, Jeff auditioned for the new band Ashes Divide. He was then asked by front man Billy Howerdel of A Perfect Circle to join the band on New Year's Day, 2008. Shortly after joining, Jeff was asked to work on remixes by producer Danny Lohner. The remixes were bonus tracks on the band's debut album Keep Telling Myself It's Alright that were released in the United States and Europe. Currently, Jeff serves as the band's studio and touring drummer as of 2008. Devo Ashes Divide took some time off after their first series of touring, so Friedl immediately kept busy by joining the band Devo in the studio to record and rehearse new songs that they had been writing for their album Something for Everybody, their first album since Smooth Noodle Maps, which was released in 1990. Friedl went on to tour with Devo in 2010 and 2011 on nationwide tours that also included many festival appearances. He appeared with Devo on the George Lopez show Lopez Tonight in 2011, performing "What We Do" and "Whip It". In 2011 Friedl filmed the music video for the single "What We Do" with Devo, which is the first fully interactive music video of its kind. Puscifer On October 30, 2008, Maynard James Keenan from Tool and A Perfect Circle released a new CD with as new solo project, Puscifer. The album, "V" Is For Vagina, debuted at #25 on the Billboard 200, which subsequently led to rumors about a tour in support of the album's success.  Friedl was introduced as a musician in the band via YouTube. On February 13, 14 and 15, Puscifer performed three nights at The Pearl Theatre in Las Vegas, NV. These shows were unofficially the first ever Puscifer shows. On April 4 and 5, 2009, Puscifer played two nights at Club Nokia in Los Angeles. Danny Carey of Tool and Josh Freese joined the band on stage at these shows. In fall of 2009, Friedl and Puscifer completed a nationwide tour that included multiple themed nights including a country night, where the band performed country western arrangements of the songs. Footage of this tour can be seen in the extras section of the DVD Blood Into Wine. In Spring 2010, Puscifer toured North America. In the summer of 2011, Puscifer spent time in Jerome, Arizona writing and recording material for the album Conditions of My Parole. Friedl also completed multiple sessions tracking in Los Angeles for the record. Friedl toured with Puscifer during the fall of 2011 and 2012.

    A Perfect Circle

It was announced in the summer of 2011 that Josh Freese would be unavailable to tour with APC, due to a scheduling conflict with Weezer. An announcement followed that stated that Friedl would be taking over the tour for Freese. The tour ran from June 29 to August 10 and included a co-headlining slot on Lollapalooza with Muse on the Friday night bill. The tour was labeled as the eMotive tour, as the band had not had an opportunity to tour on that material, although the set included songs from all of APC's catalog.
