Raymond Anthony Phillips is a Welsh drummer, best known as the original drummer for the rock band Budgie. He left the band in November 1973. Phillips formed his own band in the mid-1970s known as Ray Phillips Woman. When former Budgie guitarist Tony Bourge joined the band in the early 1980s, they became known as simply Woman.
Anschließend verließ Ray Philips die Band und wurde durch Pete Boot (Peter Charles Boot, * 30. September 1950 in West Bromwich) am Schlagzeug ersetzt, mit dem auch das vierte Album In for the Kill 1974 aufgenommen wurde.
Reportedly, Ray Phillips got an offer to join Cream in 1966, but he declined. Although musically competent, the group's lack of distinctive personality contributed to its lack of long-term success, as did Decca's poor promotion.
