Kagan, Harvey (1946-Present) Bassist from San Antonio, Texas, also credited as Harvey Kagen, who first started playing with Sammy Vaughn and the Star Marks but will be forever inextricably linked to Doug Sahm and The Sir Douglas Quintet.
Harvey Kagan (* - Died: 5 July 2019) began playing music at the age 13 with Sammy Vaughn and the Star Marks, playing record hops throughout South Texas. When Sammy left for Dallas, Harvey joined Doug Sahm who was, at that time, a local artist, with charted records, in the area.

Okt. 2021 · Sahm would recruit Augie Meyers on keyboards, Frank Morin on saxophone, Harvey Kagen on bass, and Johnny Perez on drums to form “The Sir Douglas Quintet” who would go on to record the hit song “She’s A Body Mover”…in which the title would then be adapted to “She’s About A Mover” for the censors.
