De historia stirpium commentarii insignes (Latin for Notable Commentaries on the History of Plants) is a book by Leonhart Fuchs on herbal plants published in Basel in 1542. The work covers about 497 plants and has over 500 woodcut illustrations.
The Library has digitized Leonhart Fuchs (1501–1566), De Historia Stirpium Commentarii Insignes ... (Basel, In officina Isingriniana, 1542). Some of the early books printed from moveable type in Europe in the late 15th century were herbals, books about the medicinal uses of plants as well as some animal and mineral products.
