Edries becomes a Flame Edries became the new rhythm guitarist and also brought a little extra to the group in that he was a fine lead vocalist as well. The Flames’ repertoire now included more vocals. Edries had a very soulful sound and this began the transformation within the group.
Baby Duval briefly replaced Edries Fredericks in 1967 although it is unclear whether he was involved in any of the recordings that were released. Blondie Chaplin then replaced Baby Duval in 1967. This was to be the line-up from 1967 until their demise as a group in 1970.

24. Jan. 2020 · Another cousin, Edries Fredericks, joined the Flames around 1964 after winning a guitar off my dad, Ike Mayet. My dad had won the guitar in a raffle at work and had announced at a family gathering that anyone who could play it could have it.
Edries and I were among the first DJs in the Durban area. With his wife Sally assisting old-fashioned disco sessions were held at the Sydenham Hotel. In the 80s he returned to the music scene firstly as a member of In Formation, which might have classed as one of the supergroups as it was initially made up of some of the legends of older groups.
