Lytton Burgo Partridge (8 June 1935 – 7 September 1963) was an English author and member of the Bloomsbury Group. He was the son of Ralph Partridge and Frances Marshall, and named after Lytton Strachey. In 1962, Burgo married Henrietta Garnett, daughter of Angelica Garnett and David Garnett.
Still a teenager when she married Burgo, the son of Ralph and Frances Partridge, she gave birth to their daughter Sophie in August 1963. She was only eighteen when, just four weeks later, she was widowed following Burgo’s terrifyingly sudden death caused by an aortic aneurysm. At the time, Sophie lay asleep in her crib, Henrietta was in the bath.
In 1962, aged only seventeen and already pregnant, Henrietta married Burgo Partridge. [5] Ten years older than her, he was the son of Ralph and Frances Partridge. His mother's sister, Ray Marshall, had been the first wife of Henrietta's father, David Garnett. [1]
