Lou Donaldson (born November 1, 1926) is an American retired jazz alto saxophonist. He is best known for his soulful, bluesy approach to playing the alto saxophone, although in his formative years he was heavily influenced by Charlie Parker, as were many during the bebop era.

Musty Rusty is a great mid 60s session by Lou Donaldson -- a bridge between his earlier Blue Note recordings and his styles of the mid and late 60s -- featuring an electric group with Billy Gardner on organ, Grant Green on guitar, Ben Dixon on drums, and Bill Hardman on trumpet.
