Swing served as the group's leader, and primary songwriter and producer. Swing founded the musical collective Swing Mob in 1991, which was joined by then-unknown regional acts including Timbaland & Magoo, Tweet, Missy Elliott, Ginuwine, Stevie J and Static Major.
DeVante’s vision extended beyond Jodeci with the formation of Da Basement, also known as the Swing Mob collective. This group of artists and producers, which included future stars like Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Ginuwine, and Tweet, became a breeding ground for talent that would shape the sound of R&B and hip hop for years to come.
