Belden was born in San Francisco into a wealthy California family.

  2. 22. März 2011 · The American Heritage Center has completed a project to digitize the Charles Belden photographs, one of the AHC’s more prominent collections of photographs and negatives. Most of the photographs in the collection were take in the 1920s and 1930s on the legendary Pitchfork Ranch near Meeteetse, Wyoming.

Yet Belden’s imagery of the Pitchfork and surrounding area did not just concentrate on western fables. He was also interested in capturing the West of the 1920s and 1930s as a place caught between the old and the new.

  5. The Charles Belden Photography Museum. The Belden Museum features the photographic works of Charles Belden, many of which document daily life on the Pitchfork Ranch from about 1914 to the 1940s. The Belden Museum also exhibits the personal memorabilia of the photographer and his family.
