Donn Alan „D. A.“ Pennebaker (* 15. Juli 1925 in Evanston, Illinois; † 1. August 2019 auf Long Island) war ein US-amerikanischer Dokumentarfilmer und einer der Pioniere des Direct Cinema. Donn Alan Pennebaker (/ ˈ p ɛ n iː b eɪ k ər /; July 15, 1925 – August 1, 2019) was an American documentary filmmaker and one of the pioneers of direct cinema. Performing arts and politics were his primary subjects. In 2013, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recognized his body of work with an Academy Honorary Award.

He was a director and cinematographer, known for Bob Dylan: Dont Look Back (1967), The War Room (1993) and Unlocking the Cage (2016). He was married to Chris Hegedus, Kate Taylor and Sylvia Bell. He died on 1 August 2019 in Sag Harbor, New York, USA.
