Eine kleine Attraktion gibt es mit Mick Taylors (John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Rolling Stones, Jack Bruce Band) Gastauftritt in "Heavy Tune". Wie der Name schon vermuten läßt, ist das Stück ein gewichtiger, vielleicht etwas träger Jazzrocker mit krachiger Gitarre.
First up was "Shamal" followed by "Gazeuse" then this one "Expresso II". They're basically a four piece band at this point with three guest guitarists, a violinist and a congas player helping out. Interesting to have Mick Taylor from THE ROLLING STONES here playing lead guitar on one track, as well as Allan Holdsworth on three songs.
Mick Taylor. Mick Taylor (2012) Michael „Mick“ Kevin Taylor, Spitzname Little Mick (* 17. Januar 1949 in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England) ist ein britischer Musiker. Bekannt wurde er vor allem als Leadgitarrist der Blues- und Rockband The Rolling Stones 1969–1974. Taylor spielt auch Piano, Bass und Schlagzeug .
Moerlen formed a new line-up with his brother Benoit on mallet percussion, US-born bassist Hansford Rowe, and a rotating cast of session guitarists, notably Allan Holdsworth, Mick Taylor, Mike Oldfield, and Bon Lozaga. They released two albums under the Gong moniker, Gazeuse! (called Expresso in North America) in 1976 and then Expresso II in 1978.
Anyway, this is a fusion/jazz album with it's main focus on rhythms and xylophones. There is no keyboards here at all. But Darryl Way does an excellent job on violin and the same does Mr Holdsworth on guitar. Mick Taylor also does a great job on solo guitars.
