Stewkey, however, maintained that Rundgren often did not make enough effort, saying that during the Nazz Nazz sessions he often came in with a new song and expected Stewkey to record the keyboard part on the spot, with no time to learn or rehearse it. Bandgeschichte. Nazz wurde 1967 von Todd Rundgren (Gitarre) und Carson Van Osten (Bass) in Philadelphia gegründet. Weitere Bandmitglieder waren Thom Mooney (Schlagzeug) und Robert „Stewkey“ Antoni (Keyboards, Gesang). Ihren ersten Auftritt hatten sie im Juli 1967 als Vorgruppe der Doors .

Playing lead guitar and bass, respectively, Rundgren and Van Osten were joined by drummer Thom Mooney (formerly of the Munchkins) and lead vocalist/keyboardist Stewkey (born Robert Antoni ). The Nazz had their first gig in July 1967, landing an opening slot at a Doors concert.
