I miserabili è un film drammatico del 1948 diretto da Riccardo Freda. Il film, tratto dall'omonimo romanzo di Victor Hugo, all'uscita nelle sale venne presentato diviso in due episodi a causa della sua lunghezza: al primo venne dato il titolo di Caccia all'uomo, mentre al secondo Tempesta su Parigi.
The first was titled Caccia all'uomo (transl. Man Hunt), which opened on 21 January 1948, and the second was titled Tempesta su Parigi (transl. Storm Over Paris), which opened on 28 January. The film grossed a total of 375 million lire, making it the highest-grossing Italian film of 1948.
Trama. Braccato da Javert, Jean Valjean si rifugia a Parigi sotto falso nome. E' diventato ricco e potrebbe salvarsi se la figlia adottiva Cosetta non si innamorasse di Marius, uno dei capi dell'insurrezione. La sommossa fallisce e Valjean sottrae Marius all'arresto, ma viene riconosciuto e ucciso.
