Shane Patrick Lysaght MacGowan (25 December 1957 – 30 November 2023) was a British-born Irish [a] singer-songwriter and musician known as the lead vocalist and primary lyricist of Celtic punk band the Pogues. He also produced solo material and collaborated with artists including Joe Strummer, Nick Cave, Sinéad O'Connor, and Cruachan.
In his own inimitable style, he guested on a number of diverse projects, from lead vocals on a track from Jesus & the Mary Chain’s ‘Stoned & Dethroned’ to recording W.B. Yeats’ ‘An Irish Airman Foresees His Death’ in honour of the poet.
The album also features lead vocals from guests Shane MacGowan from The Pogues on "God Help Me" and Mazzy Star 's Hope Sandoval, singing a duet with Jim Reid on "Sometimes Always", which was the album's first single.
