Our History. When the first settlements flooded—near the place that would eventually be known as Kansas City—the settlers headed for higher ground. Columbus Park, which has been known by many names in the past, became one of the earliest neighborhoods. Part of Columbus Park was included in the platting for the Town of Kansas in 1853.
