Boston is an American rock band formed in 1975 in Boston, Massachusetts, by multi-instrumentalist Tom Scholz, who was joined by vocalist Brad Delp, guitarist Barry Goudreau, bassist Fran Sheehan and drummer Jim Masdea (who was replaced by Sib Hashian ).

Juni 2020 · “The only other person who helped make those demos was drummer Jim Masdea, who was the drummer for every demo I sent to record companies back in the 70s.” With the record in the can, the band still lacked a name. It was producer Boylan and his engineer Warren Dewey who suggested Boston.
Scholz trat dann der Band Freehold bei, wo er zusammen mit den späteren Boston-Musikern, dem Gitarristen Barry Goudreau, dem Sänger Brad Delp († 2007) und dem Schlagzeuger Jim Masdea spielte. 1973 gründeten diese vier die Gruppe Mother’s Milk, die sich 1974 wieder auflöste.
While attending MIT, Scholz joined the band Freehold, where he met guitarist Barry Goudreau and drummer Jim Masdea, who would later become members of Boston. Vocalist Brad Delp was added to the collective in 1970.
