Airto Guimorvan Moreira (* 5. August 1941 in Itaiópolis , Brasilien ) ist ein brasilianischer Perkussionist, der weltweit als Jazzmusiker bekannt wurde. Sein Verdienst mit anderen ist, dass im Jahre 1972 die renommierte Musik-Zeitschrift Down Beat die neue Rubrik Perkussion einführte.
Airto Moreira was born in 1941 in the small village of Itaiopolis - south Brasil, and was raised in Curitiba. Even before he could walk he would start shaking and banging on the floor every time the radio played a hot song. This worried his mother, but his grandmother recognized his potential and encouraged him to express himself.
Airto Guimorvan Moreira (born August 5, 1941) is a Brazilian jazz drummer and percussionist. He is married to jazz singer Flora Purim, and their daughter Diana Moreira is also a singer.
