Liu Ye (simplified Chinese: 刘野; traditional Chinese: 劉野; pinyin: Liú Yě; born in 1964) is a Beijing-based contemporary Chinese painter known for his bright-hued paintings of childlike female figures, his favorite cartoon character Miffy the bunny and works inspired by Piet Mondrian.
Liu Ye (Chinese: 刘烨; pinyin: Líu Yè, born 23 March 1978) is a Chinese actor. He made his feature film debut in Postmen in the Mountains (1999), and later on won recognition through critically acclaimed film Lan Yu (2001), which earned him the Best Actor award at the Golden Horse Awards.
Starring with actress Meryl Streep, Liu starred as Chinese physics postgraduate Liu Xing. Dark Matter won the Alfred P. Sloan Prize at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival and was released in the United States in April 2008. Liu's first villainous role was in Connected (2008), a remake of the American film Cellular.

10. Okt. 2023 · David Zwirner is pleased to present an exhibition of recent paintings by Chinese artist Liu Ye, on view at the gallery’s London location. This is the artist’s second solo presentation with the gallery and the first time his work has been shown in London since 2002.
Liu Ye’s work combines both direct and oblique references to the history of art to create a charged personal iconography that draws on real and imagined works of art, fictional and reallife figures. His work is informed by a sophisticated conflation of formal principles and conceptual ideas from both Asian and Western cultures.
