Richard Whorf (June 4, 1906 – December 14, 1966) was an American actor, writer and film director. Life and acting career. Whorf was born in Winthrop, Massachusetts to Harry and Sarah (née Lee) Whorf. His older brother was linguist Benjamin Lee Whorf. [2] .
Richard Whorf (1906-1966) was a versatile film and TV professional, known for Yankee Doodle Dandy, The Beverly Hillbillies and The Tammy Grimes Show. He was married to actress Margaret Harriet Smith and died of a heart attack in 1966.

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Dec. 14 (UPI) Richard Whorf, the stage, screen and television actor and director, died of a heart attack at St. John's Hospital here today. He was 60 years old.
Richard Whorf was a director and actor, known for Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942), Blues in the Night (1941) and The Beverly Hillbillies (1962). He was also the brother of linguist Benjamin Whorf and a Tony Award winner for costume design.
