Edward R. Egan (January 3, 1930 – November 4, 1995) was an American actor and former police detective. He was the subject of the nonfiction book The French Connection and its 1971 film adaptation . Eddie Egan was a real-life New York City police officer who inspired the film The French Connection (1971). He played himself in the movie and died in 1995 in Florida.

On 15 February 1932, Eddie Eagan became the first and only person to win gold at the Summer and Winter Games - Olympic News. As a pusher in the four-man bobsleigh team spearheaded by pilot Billy Fiske, Edward Eagan won the gold medal with the USA I team in the final event of the Lake Placid 1932 Winter Games.
