Leben und Wirken. William Henry wurde als Sohn von Thomas Henry (1734–1816), einem Apotheker und Chemiker, geboren. 1795 begann er in Edinburgh Medizin zu studieren und wurde 1807 promoviert. Der Titel seiner Dissertation lautete: De acido urico, et morbis a nimia ejus secretione ortis.
William Henry was an English physician and chemist who in 1803 proposed what is now called Henry’s law, which states that the amount of a gas absorbed by a liquid is in proportion to the pressure of the gas above the liquid, provided that no chemical action occurs. Henry took his doctor of medicine.
