James Ager Worthy (born February 27, 1961) is an American former professional basketball player. Nicknamed " Big Game James ", he played his entire professional career with the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
James Worthy is a Hall of Fame small forward and power forward who played for the Los Angeles Lakers from 1982 to 1994. He won three NBA championships, one Finals MVP, and two All-NBA selections, and was the Rookie of the Year in 1983.

He was the ideal player for the Laker running game and post-up offensive style. Worthy starred on the 1982 NCAA title team at North Carolina and was named MVP of the Final Four. As the number one pick in the 1982 NBA draft, he spearheaded the Lakers to championships in 1985, 1987 and 1988, and a total of seven NBA Finals appearances.
