  7. Joey Giardello, a Philadelphia-based contender who fought all the tough black fighters, defeated a faded but still dangerous Sugar Ray Robinson in 1963. The victory set up a title shot against Dick Tiger, but Giardello lost by a close decision and was not inducted into the IBHOF.
