Tomas Walsh (born 1 March 1992) is a New Zealand athlete who competes mainly in the shot put. He is the current national record holder both outdoors and indoors for the event. His personal best of 22.90 m (75 ft 1 + 1 ⁄ 2 in), set in Doha, 5 October 2019, is also the Oceanian record and makes him the sixth best shot putter in history.
One of New Zealand's star athletes for the past decade, Tom Walsh has two Olympic bronze medals to his name, claiming the podium finish at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. Read more.
7. Apr. 2019 · Just 17 days after failing to reach 21 metres in losing to Bukowiecki, 21.32m to 20.84m, Walsh was back out near the 22-metre line when he threw 21.91m to defeat Australia’s Damien Birkinhead (19.79m) by just over two metres. Birkinhead took out the national title.
