Dār ul-Funun ( Persian: دارالفنون Persian pronunciation: [dɒːɾolfʊˈnuːn], meaning "polytechnic college") is the oldest Western-style institute of higher education in Iran, established by the royal vizier to Nasereddin Shah in 1851.
