Anthony Babington (* 24. Oktober 1561 in Dethick, Derbyshire; † 20. Anthony Babington (24 October 1561 – 20 September 1586) was an English gentleman convicted of plotting the assassination of Elizabeth I of England and conspiring with the imprisoned Mary, Queen of Scots, for which he was hanged, drawn and quartered.

Anthony Babington was an English conspirator, a leader of the unsuccessful “Babington Plot” to assassinate Queen Elizabeth I and install Elizabeth’s prisoner, the Roman Catholic Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots, on the English throne. The son of Henry Babington of Derbyshire, he was brought up secretly.
