Thomas Leonard Carroll (November 28, 1900 – June 7, 1934) was an American bank robber and Depression-era outlaw. A boxer-turned-criminal, he committed numerous robberies during the 1920s and 1930s as well as being a longtime member of the Dillinger gang .
Thomas Roger Carroll (18 August 1942 – 16 August 2020) was an Irish international footballer. Carroll was born in Dublin, and was 15 when he made his debut for Shelbourne, alongside his elder brother Eddie. During seven years at Tolka Park he won the League of Ireland Championship and the FAI Cup.
On June 7, Tommy Carroll was shot and killed by police in Waterloo, Iowa. Dillinger and Van Meter reunited with Nelson a week later and went into hiding. [citation needed] On June 30, Dillinger, Van Meter, Nelson, and an unidentified "fat man" robbed the Merchants National Bank in South Bend, Indiana.
