Kasi Lemmons (/ ˈ k eɪ s i /; born Karen Lemmons, February 24, 1961) is an American film director, screenwriter, and actress. She made her directorial debut with Eve's Bayou (1997), followed by Talk to Me (2007), Black Nativity (2013), Harriet (2019), and Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody (2022). [3]
Kasi Lemmons was born on 24 February 1961 in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. She is an actress and director, known for Harriet (2019), The Silence of the Lambs (1991) and Candyman (1992). She has been married to Vondie Curtis-Hall since 19 August 1995. They have two children.
Kasi was Vassar College’s 2008 Artist in Residence, and in the 2010-2011 academic year, Lemmons was the UCLA . Regents’ Lecturer in the School of Theater, Film & Television. She was also the leader/moderator of AFI curriculum’s core class, Narrative Workshop.
