Antônio Augusto Cançado Trindade (* 17. September 1947 in Belo Horizonte; † 29. Mai 2022 in Brasilien [1]) war ein brasilianischer Jurist. Er wirkte von 1995 bis 2008 als Richter am Interamerikanischen Gerichtshof für Menschenrechte, darunter von 1999 bis 2004 als Präsident.

He was appointed as judge of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) from 6 February 2009. [1] . He was reelected to the Court in December 2017, and took office for his second term on 6 February 2018, serving until his death in 2022.
