C. Proxima Centauri ist ein roter Zwerg, während Alpha Centauri A und B beide weiße Zwerge sind. Proxima Centauri bildet mit den beiden anderen Sternen ein enges Dreisternsystem. D. Proxima Centauri, Alpha Centauri A und B sind alle rote Zwerge und unterscheiden sich kaum voneinander in Größe und Temperatur.
10. Feb. 2022 · Der Proxima Centauri d getaufte Planet ist der innerste der nunmehr drei Planeten dieses nahen Systems und benötigt nur rund 5,1 Tage für einen Umlauf um den Stern. Er kreist damit knapp zu weit innen für die habitable Zone seines Sterns. Der Rote Zwerg Proxima Centauri ist der nächste stellare Nachbar unserer Sonne.
Proxima Centauri is a member of the Alpha Centauri star system, being identified as component Alpha Centauri C, and is 2.18° to the southwest of the Alpha Centauri AB pair. It is currently 12,950 AU (0.2 ly) from AB, which it orbits with a period of about 550,000 years.
