The Last Tempest (Chinese: 瀛臺泣血; pinyin: Yíng tái qì xuè) is a 1976 Hong Kong drama film directed by Li Han-hsiang. The film was selected as the Hong Kong entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 49th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee.
Synopsis. Despite Kuang Hsu’s enthronement as the last reigning Emperor of China, his ability to rule effectively is overshadowed by the ever-present power of the Dowager Empress. When his attempts to reform the Imperial system are thwarted by the Dowager Empress, he attempts to curb her power.
