Murderer Brandon and safecracker Montana Nick are handcuffed together while riding a train under the sheriff's supervision. When Nick's sister enters the compartment and faints, Brandon grabs the sheriff's gun and escapes with Nick, after which they hide in a wagon owned by Jane Langdon while it is being loaded.
