Summaries. When a waiter accidentally KOs boxing champ Tiger Dorsey in Slapsie Maxie's nightclub, Rosenbloom arranges a boxing match between the reluctant waiter and the champ. Because of his ease-of-footwork and skillful manipulation of the serving trays as a waiter, Johnny, the Waiter catches the attention of nightclub owner Maxie Rosenbloom.
In 1937, he accepted a role in a Hollywood film. He became a character actor, portraying comical "big guys" in movies that included Each Dawn I Die, and Maxie retired from boxing permanently in 1939.
