Doña Perfecta is a 1951 Mexican film version of the famous novel by Benito Pérez Galdós, directed by Alejandro Galindo and starring Dolores del Río.
Handlung. José de Rey, ein junger Akademiker aus Madrid, reist nach Orbajosa um seine Cousine Rosario zu heiraten. Die Heirat wurde von Rosarios Mutter, Doña Perfecta, und ihrem Bruder, Juan de Rey, vereinbart, da dieser seiner Schwester durch schwere Zeiten hindurchgeholfen hatte.
The action occurs in 19th century Spain, when a young liberal named Don José (Pepe) Rey, arrives in a cathedral city named Orbajosa, with the intention of marrying his cousin Rosario. This was a marriage of convenience arranged between Pepe's father Juan and Juan's sister, Perfecta.
