1. Aug. 1998 · Based on a true story, set in the late 19th century: Lord Tichborne, the ninth richest nobleman in England, disappears after a South American shipwreck. Some years later his erudite Afro-English valet, Bogle, is sent to investigate rumors that Tichborne survived and settled in Australia.
When a rich British aristocrat disappears off the coast of Australia in 1866, his servant Bogle is dispatched. With Lord Tichborne nowhere to be found and realising that he will be refused a return home unless in the company of his master, Bogle desperately attempts to mould a vulgar peasant into a Tichborne double.
True story of the Tichborne Claimant, the man who claimed Lord Tichborne's heritage in the late 1800s. The perspective of the story lies with the family's African servant (John Kani). He was sent to Australia around 1875 to track down the missing heir. The clerk finds a candidate (Robert Pugh) but due to circumstances his claim is rejected ...
