  5. Lu Watters’ first recording was made in San Francisco in 1929 with Jack Danfords Hotel Ben Franklin Orchestra. Lu takes a solo on “Alabama Stomp,” which shows a definite Red Nichols influence. Many cornetists and trumpeters from the era were inspired by Nichols’ cornet playing.
