William Russell Watrous III (June 8, 1939 – July 2, 2018) was an American jazz trombonist. He is perhaps best known for his rendition of Sammy Nestico 's arrangement of the Johnny Mandel ballad "A Time for Love", which he recorded on a 1993 album of the same name.

Trombonist Bill Watrous, known for his skill, range and speed, passed away in Los Angeles at 79. He played with big bands of Stan Kenton, Woody Herman, Maynard Ferguson and Johnny Richards, and recorded with his own band, Manhattan Wildlife Refuge.
Virtuoso trombonist Bill Watrous was born in Middletown, Connecticut. Described as ‘a technically brilliant performer with a flawless tone’, he took up trombone at the age of five, worked in Dixieland bands as a teenager and while in military service studied with modernist pianist Herbie Nichols.
