The longtime frontman for the British funk-pop group Level 42, Mark King was born in Cowes, England, on October 20, 1958. A onetime drummer, upon co-founding Level 42 in 1980 he moved to the bass, honing a distinctive thumb-slapping technique which became an integral element of the group’s sound.
13. Mai 2024 · Mark King has revealed that a disciplinary hearing into his long-running ban from the World Snooker Tour has taken place. The former world number 11 was suspended in March of 2023, but there have been hardly any details released concerning the matter since then.
12. Okt. 2022 · Mark King’s hard-hitting bass pyrotechnics with Level 42 became the driving force behind many of the band’s Top 40 hits and paved the way for slap-bass playing in mainstream 80s pop. The group notched up 20 UK Top 40 hits throughout the 80s before eventually disbanding in 1994.
