John D'earth (born March 30, 1950) is an American post-bop / hard bop jazz trumpeter born in Framingham, Massachusetts, who has appeared on recordings by Dave Matthews and Bruce Hornsby as well as recording a number of CDs on his own. He currently resides in Charlottesville, Virginia .

John came to Charlottesville in 1981 from New York City where his band Cosmology had cut an eponymously titled record for Vanguard co-produced by Collin Walcott (1977).
John D’earth plays trumpet with a striking, original sound and a technique that he mobilizes for spitfire improvisation and gripping melodies. A consummate jazz artist, composer, and gifted educator, he draws inspiration from collaborators on the bandstand, from students, and from nature.
