Claude Roy Kirk Jr. (January 7, 1926 – September 28, 2011) was an American businessman and politician who served as the 36th governor of Florida from 1967 to 1971. A Republican for most his career, he was the first Republican governor of Florida since Reconstruction.

In 1967, at the age of 41, he became the first Republican Governor of Florida since 1872. Having campaigned promising no new taxes, Governor Kirk pledged to run the state government like a business in order to help attract new business and industry to the state.
