She previously served as Bergen city commissioner for labour, social affairs, and housing from 2019 to 2021.

Juni 2023 · Lubna Jaffery, who joined the Labour Party in 1995 and has served in various government and municipal roles, was appointed as the new Minister of Culture and Equality by Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. She will take over from Anette Trettebergstuen, who resigned over conflicts of interest, and will host a Pride reception at the prime minister's residence.
