Between 1819 and 1826, Enoch Lincoln (1788-1829), a lawyer and legislator, boarded with Dr. Cyrus Hamlin of Paris Hill. In the several years before Maine became a state, Lincoln was the U.S. Representative from the 7th District of Massachusetts; then a U.S. Representative from Maine, 1821-26.
