Kim Young-sam (Korean: 김영삼; Hanja: 金泳三; Korean pronunciation: [ki.mjʌŋ.sam] or ; 20 December 1927 – 22 November 2015), often referred to by his initials YS, was a South Korean politician and activist who served as the 7th (14th election) president of South Korea from 1993 to 1998.
Kim Young-sam (; * 20. Dezember 1927 in Geoje, Korea; † 22. November 2015 in Seoul, Südkorea [1]) war ein südkoreanischer Politiker. Vom 25. Februar 1993 bis 25. Februar 1998 war er Staatspräsident, und somit nach 32 Jahren der erste Zivilist in diesem Amt.
Kim Young-Sam was a South Korean politician, moderate opposition leader, and president from 1993 to 1998. Kim graduated from Seoul National University in 1952 and was first elected to the National Assembly in 1954. A centrist liberal, he was successively reelected until 1979, when he was expelled.
