Frederick Charles Alderdice (November 10, 1871 – February 26, 1936) was a Newfoundland businessman, politician and the last Prime Minister of Newfoundland. Alderdice was born in Belfast, Ireland and was educated at Methodist College Belfast. He moved to Newfoundland in 1886.

16. Jan. 2008 · Frederick Charles Alderdice, businessman, politician (b at Belfast, Ire 10 Nov 1872: d at St John's 26 Feb 1936). He was twice prime minister of Newfoundland, August-November 1928 and June 1932-February 1934, and the last person to hold that office before confederation with Canada.
Three years later he became leader of the government party in the upper house. In August 1928, when Monroe resigned, a delegation from his party persuaded Alderdice to take over the leadership. Appointed prime minister on 16 August, he renamed his group the Conservative Party.
