Bekannt wurde Burali-Forti als der erste Entdecker eines Mengenparadoxons (Burali-Forti, Antinomie von), im wesentlichen ein Menge-aller-Mengen-Paradoxon. Neben Mengenlehre und Vektoranalysis interessierten Burali-Forti auch lineare Transformationen und ihre Anwendung auf die Differentialgeometrie.
