Isaac Ridgeway Trimble (May 15, 1802 – January 2, 1888) was a United States Army officer, a civil engineer, a prominent railroad construction superintendent and executive, and a Confederate general in the American Civil War.

He was commissioned a brigadier general in 1861. One of the oldest generals in the Confederate Army, he was a friend of Stonewall Jackson. He led troops in burning bridges and in several battles including Second Manassas, or Bull Run, after which he was promoted to major general.
Because both Heth and Pender were wounded in the fighting on July 1 and 2, however, their divisions fell under the command of Brigadier General James Johnston Pettigrew and Major General Isaac R. Trimble.
