Ambrosius Aurelianus was a prominent military leader who fought against the Anglo-Saxons in the 5th century, according to Gildas and other sources. He also appears in British legends as the uncle of King Arthur and the brother of Uther Pendragon, or as the wizard Merlin.

12. Nov. 2017 · This battle, known as the Battle of Badon Hill, was said to have been masterminded by a man who went by the name Ambrosius Aurelianus. The battle, itself, is deemed to be fairly historical, but the man who led the Britons to victory has been buried under myth and legend.

Although the reality of his role is clouded by much uncertainty (to say the least!), his impact on this period in Britain's history seems to have been significant.
