In addition to politics, the pro-Chiang military also defeated the leader of the Wuhan government-loyal military, Tang Shengzhi, in the Wuhan-Nanjing War. During this internal war, the Guangxi clique (loyal to the Nanjing government) played a decisive role in defeating the troops of Tang, loyal to Wang.
